The record Ligue 1 champions have completed the signing of Uruguay international Manuel Ugarte following his arrival from Portuguese giants Sporting CP, with PSG understood to have triggered the 22-year-old's €60 million (R1.2 billion) release clause.

Chelsea were also reported to be in the running for the young star's services in order to pair him with Enzo Fernandez in their midfield, but Les Parisiens are believed to have offered more money than the London club, with the Blues not eager to go above their threshold.
While the Paris-based outfit was able to retain their league title this season, the club once again failed to win the elusive UEFA Champions League.

Ugarte has become the club's third signing of the window after Marco Asensio and Milan Skriniar both arrived as free agents on Thursday.
