The North African giants are currently in the midst of a historic season. The Cairo-based outfit are on course to win their first-ever league title, sitting top of the standings with 44 points — four ahead of Al Ahly — and they now find themselves in the Champions League semi-finals just a season after making their debut in the competition.
Last season, they were eliminated in the group stages, but now stand on the verge of becoming only the fourth side from Egypt to lift African club football’s biggest prize. However, if they are to accomplish this feat, they will have to do so without the services of one of their talismans, Ibrahim Abdel.
The Egypt international has been an integral part of his side’s success this season, scoring five goals — the second-most of any player at the club — and providing nine assists, the highest of any Pyramids player across all competitions.
According to Kooora, the 23-year-old suffered an injury in the final training session ahead of his team’s second-leg quarter-final against AS FAR Rabat. He missed that encounter and was also unavailable for their latest league match against Ahly, and is now set to miss the clash against the Bucs.

While Abdel will not be taking part in the clash, Fiston Mayele will be in the squad, having been included by Krunoslav Jurcic in the group travelling to South Africa. It had been alleged that visa issues could hamper the Congolese forward's involvement, but he has been included in the Croatian coach’s plans and will likely feature at FNB Stadium.
