With the likes of Cristo and Aliou Dieng leaving the Cairo International Stadium on loan deals this off-season, the Red Devils could be close to achieving their first major permanent sale of the transfer window, with Egypt central defender Mohamed Abdelmonem potentially on his way out.
The 25-year-old has proved an integral player for the Club of the Century in recent seasons, helping them win back-to-back CAF Champions League titles over the past two campaigns, but now looks poised for a major move to Europe.
UEFA Champions League-qualified side Bologna recently bid farewell to central defender Riccardo Calafiori, who completed a transfer to Arsenal, and according to Italian transfer expert Gianluca DiMarzio, they are keen on replacing the 22-year-old with Abdelmonem.
It seems the Serie A outfit is facing competition for the Egyptian's signature, though, because, according to L'Equipe, Ligue 1 side OGC Nice have joined the race for the Zagazig native.
The French club is said to be anticipating Jean-Clair Todibo's exit from the Allianz Riviera in this transfer window as he is rumoured to be of interest to the likes of Juventus and West Ham United, and want the 25-cap north African to be one of the players to help stabilise their defence.

It remains to be seen how willing Ahly will be to selling Abdelmonem, but with the European links intensifying, this could be his final campaign in the Egyptian capital.
