Ahead of the 2024/25 season, Yanga will be looking to further extend their record for the most Tanzanian Premier League titles, while also being competitive in continental football, and the way they have prepared for this is by taking their pre-season preparations to the southern tip of Africa.
First, the Wananchi played in the Mpumalanga Premier's International Cup, where they lost 2-1 to Germany's Augsburg, but the east African giants ended their tour off strong.
They then beat TS Galaxy 1-0 in their next friendly, before subjecting Kaizer Chiefs to an emphatic 4-0 thumping in the Toyota Cup this past weekend.
When assessing their performances in pre-season, Yanga's Argentine tactician said he believes their preparations were a success even if they did not win all their games.

"I am very happy with the three games we played. The Augsburg game was good, but it was so early for us," the Olavarria native said, as per The Guardian Tanzania.
"Against TS Galaxy, we played with all the players, and this last game was very good. It was important for us and even for the Young Africans brand because playing international games is very good.
"At the beginning, I was not convinced to do this pre-season because there are a lot of risks and you can't work well as you can do here, but it was a successful trip.

"In general, it was a very good learning experience for the players. The most important thing for me was we went toe-to-toe, we played attacking football and created chances. We did not park the bus."
