Speaking recently on a TV programme called +90, sporting director of Libyan outfit Asswehly SC, Walid Tarhouni, said his club is working on deals for two Al Ahly stars.
Al Tarhouni admitted that talks are ongoing for midfielders Amr El Solia and Ahmed Kendouci, with the latter currently out on loan at Cleopatra FC.
A potential pursuit of Tau, however, is not something the Libyan side are considering at this point.
"The negotiations with Amr El Solia are very positive, and the percentage of his closeness to signing is 75%, and there is optimism about his inclusion.
"We also want to include Ahmed Kendouci, but we are at the beginning of negotiations with his agent, and within days an official offer will be sent to Al Ahly to include him, whether on loan or a final sale. Percy Tau is not in our calculations."
Tau is facing an uncertain future in Cairo ahead of the expiration of his contract in 2025.
