The Premier League giants and the Serie A side were involved in a drawn-out transfer saga for the 22-year-old's signature, but the two clubs are now rumoured to have agreed a €40 million (R800 million) transfer fee for the player.
The Rome native enjoyed a stellar 2023/24 season in his lone campaign in northern Italy, helping the Rossoblu finish fifth on the Serie A table and qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in 60 years.
Having seen his former teammate Joshua Zirkzee make the switch from Bologna to the Premier League – the Dutchman joined Manchester United – two weeks ago, Calafiori has followed suit, and has now become the 13-time English champions' newest player.
