The transfer saga involving the 19-year-old has come to an end after the German giants confirmed the midfielder's departure from Signal Iduna Park, as per BVB's official website.
The Stourbridge native is Los Blancos' first signing of the off-season and is among the most expensive players the Spanish outfit have ever bought.
There were a number of European powerhouses interested in the attacking midfielder, such as Manchester City, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, but the 14-time European champions have now pipped their rivals to one of Europe's hottest properties.
Reports of an agreement had been mooted some weeks ago, but out of respect for Dortmund's Bundesliga title charge, Real waited until the German top-flight season was over before initiating negotiations with their European counterparts.
