Check Out: Mourinho 'Close' To Joining New European Giants
While no official announcement on his future has been made yet by Paris Saint-Germain, the club's head coach Christophe Galtier did publicly state this week that Lionel Messi will make his final appearance for the Ligue 1 champions this weekend.
Messi joined Les Parisiens as a free agent in 2021 after Barcelona decided against offering him new terms, but could be on his way back to the Catalan giants amid rumours LaLiga could soon approve their financial plans for the 2023/24 campaign.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup champion has endured a complicated two seasons in France, having failed to help guide the side to their first UEFA Champions League trophy, but his struggling club form has coincided with some of the best times he has enjoyed in an Argentina shirt.
PSG will host Clermont Foot in their final league match of the campaign, and it will be interesting to see the kind of reception the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner gets at the Parc des Princes.
Here are seven stars confirmed to be leaving their clubs for free:
In England, meanwhile, Liverpool legend Roberto Firmino has already said his goodbyes to the Anfield faithful as he ended his stay at the club in style, scoring two goals in his last two appearances for the Reds. Over at relegated Leicester City, Caglar Soyuncu is set to for a free-agent departure after Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone confirmed the Turkish centre-back will be joining Los Rojiblancos. His teammate Youri Tielemans will also leave the Foxes, as announced by the player himself in a social media post this week.
Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt look set to lose a number of top talents ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, but two high-profile upcoming departures have been confirmed. Japan international Daichi Kamada, 26, is said to be in talks over a move to AC Milan in the coming months following a four-season spell at the German club, during which he contributed to 73 goals in 178 appearances. France international Marcus Thuram is on his way out too, having made and announced his decision earlier this year.
Lastly, long-serving Borussia Dortmund star Raphael Guerreiro has bid his farewell to the Signal Iduna Park faithful, but not the way he wanted. The 29-year-old Portugal left-back-turned-midfielder was seen looking distraught as he said goodbye just moments after BVB stumbled in their final Bundesliga match to lose the title to Bayern Munich. Guerreiro, though, will be remembered fondly by supporters after his seven-year stay, during which he played a hand in an impressive 90 goals in 224 appearances.
