After leaving Botswana Premier League side Jwaneng Galaxy not so long ago, South African born coach Morena Ramoreboli has now officially secured his international job on the year of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Ramoreboli took charge of the Botswana national team on an interim basis for the final two 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and got the job done as the Zebras booked a spot at the competition that will be played in Morocco at the end of this year. The last time Botswana qualified for AFCON was in 2012, when it was hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

The coach was widely praised for the job he did at Galaxy, inspiring the club to success in the league ahead of giants Township Rollers, as well as qualifying for the CAF Champions League group stages on more than one occasion.
His work did not go unnoticed in Botswana and now he will have a big opportunity to test himself against some of the best coaches on the continent at AFCON. The Siya crew understands that he has signed a two-year deal, as the association confirmed his appointment in a statement.
Ramoreboli has been given clear targets by the football association of Botswana. He has to progress beyond the group stages at AFCON, collect at least 12 points in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, qualify for CHAN 2026 and win the 2025 COSAFA Senior Men's Challenge.
