Richards Bay Set To Release Former Chiefs Midfielder

Richards Bay Set To Release Former Chiefs Midfielder

Richards Bay could release former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe, who joined them during the off-season after being released by the Naturena side, the Siya crew has been informed.

Sources close to both the player and the club have indicated that the Natal Rich Boyz are believed to be intending to part ways with Sithebe as soon as they find a suitable replacement, citing a limited contribution to the team as a factor.

According to an insider, Sithebe, who signed a three-year deal upon joining the team in August, is believed to have been informed of the club's decision.

"It's seems things are not working out for Sithebe. The club feels like he is not living up to his expectations and that's why they are looking at releasing him. It would be hard for them to loan him out and that's why the only possible way out would be to release him. They are just waiting for a go ahead from the technical team but as things stand management is working on how they could reach an amicable decision to part ways. The team is not happy with his performance and contribution to the team thus far," the Siya source stated.

A second insider mentioned that contractual obligations could delay the release process for the former AmaZulu FC midfielder.

"You remember he signed a three-year contract when he joined the team. That means they have to look at some sort of payment to the player because that means they will be terminating his contract before time and they have to meet each other half-way in as far as that is concerned and that's what they are working out on at the moment. But the team is believed to have made up their minds in as far as parting ways with him is concerned."

Since joining the team from Chiefs, Sithebe has played only a few Betway Premiership games, as well as Carling Knockout matches in the cup. Soccer Laduma contacted Richards Bay chairman Sfiso Jomo Biyela, who could neither deny nor confirm Sithebe's potential release.

Meanwhile the player's agent Sihlangu Sithebe is confident that Richards Bay are set to release his player.

"Yes, it's true my brother," Sithebe confirmed to Soccer Laduma.

Sithebe's impending departure from Richards Bay highlights the club's strategic adjustments as they seek to enhance team performance. Resolving contractual matters will be key in facilitating a smooth transition for both parties, as they each look toward future opportunities and growth in the league.
