As previously reported by the Siya crew, Mamelodi Sundowns may be interested in signing former player Percy Tau from Egyptian side Al Ahly.
With one year remaining on Tau's Al Ahly contract, Siya sources have indicated that the only stumbling block for the move to happen is based on the South African's current deal.

Sources at the club have told the Siya crew that the Egyptian side could have the upper hand, such that even if the player wanted to leave then it'd still be very difficult for him to do so before the expiry of his current contract.
An exception to that might only be if Tau is able to find a European suitor.
On the other hand, Siya sources have added that Sundowns are able to buy Tau out of his Al Ahly contract, but the question is whether they should rather wait.
"You see, as I told you last time, Sundowns had an 80% chance of acquiring Tau's services but the stumbling block is his contract with Al Ahly," said the Siya source.
"Now, we see the club (Al Ahly) has a watertight contract with him. It doesn't allow him to move to any team mainly in Africa unless he is a free agent. That's tough.
"They say they can make an exception for European offers. That's where the problem lies now. The club really wanted him back and to play a major part mainly in the Champions League.
"So, as it stands now, the talks seemed to be doomed," the source said.
Another Siya source added that Al Ahly also want to keep Tau beyond his current contract which expires in June 2024.

"So, because of that they don't want to let him go. He is one of their trusted players so it won't be easy to get him. That's what is frustrating Sundowns at the moment.
"I am not sure what will be the next step as the technical team really wanted him," the source told the Siya crew.
Soccer Laduma contacted Sundowns to comment on these developments but the club did not respond while the story was prepared.
