May Mahlangu could be playing his football in the South African top flight next season, according to Siya sources in the know. The creative midfielder has been without a club since July 2022 after parting ways Kazakhstan outfit FK Aksu, with whom he terminated his contract. Since then, there has been all manner of speculation surrounding his future: first, talk of a return to Europe, then a switch to the DStv Premiership and then possible retirement.
Throughout all this, however, the 34-year-old's camp has kept their plans under wraps. And now, indications from Siya sources are that the former Bafana Bafana star has been offered to TS Galaxy!
"There has been talk of him joining TS Galaxy, which is his home team. He has a house in Secunda and could see out his career there. His management are exploring options for him in the PSL, but there has also been interest other clubs in Europe," a source revealed.
The Stars of Africa product is one of a handful of South African-born players that have spent years abroad yet have never featured in the PSL. After leaving Mzansi in 2008, Mahlangu has enjoyed a nomadic career that has seen him turn out for clubs such as Helsingborgs, Hassleholm, Gothenburg, Konyaspor, St Truiden, Dynamo Bucharest and Ludogorets, in different countries.
It now remains to be seen if the Rockets, who have been relatively quiet in the transfer market, will buy into the idea of bringing the player on board, given his extended absence from the game.
