Chiefs' Last 3 Seasons Exits – A Whopping 29 Players: 10 More To Go?

Chiefs' Last 3 Seasons Exits – A Whopping 29 Players: 10 More To Go?

It's a big week at Naturena, with Kaizer Chiefs set to make some key announcements regarding their playing personnel and technical staff.

The Siya crew has been led to believe that Amakhosi will be making announcements on which players will not form part of the playing staff for the upcoming season.

There are players who will be released permanently, while others are expected to be either placed on the transfer list or sent out on loan.

As revealed by Farpost, Amakhosi welcomed Fernando Da Cruz at OR Tambo International airport over the weekend, with new coach Nasreddine Nabi set to arrive in the near future to kick start what many hope will be the beginning of a successful period for the Soweto giants who have endured the most devastating nine years without silverware to polish in their cabinet.

Da Cruz will begin work at Naturena while Nabi wraps things up in Morocco with AS FAR and there are already some players who are expected to not form part of the team for the upcoming campaign.

Who is not safe? The Siya crew understands Njabulo Ngcobo, George Matlou, Itumeleng Khune and Jasond Gonzalez are players expected to be heading out. Sabelo Radebe could go out on loan, while Tebogo Potsane's future is in doubt. Youngster Aden McCarthy is believed to currently be in Moldova on trial, with the player looking for an opportunity to play more football.

The Siya crew understands that Keagan Dolly could stay with the Soweto giants, but with a reduced salary.

Siya sources have indicated that a few more players are also expected to leave the club, but the exact amount will depend on Nabi's assessment of the squad when he arrives and takes a look at the players.

Assistant coach Dillon Sheppard and goalkeeper coach Aubrey Mathibe are not expected to stay as part of the technical team, with Nabi bringing in his people to work with. Chiefs, though, could have a local as second assistant to Nabi.

Over the last two seasons, Amakhosi have parted ways with quite a number of players. At the end of last season, Amakhosi let go of Cole Alexander, Phathutshedzo Nange, Thabani Dube, Kamohelo Mahlatsi, Eric Mathoho, Darrel Matsheke, Kgaogelo Sekgota, Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana and Khama Billiat.

The season before that, they let go of Daniel Cardoso, Sibusiso Mabiliso, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Bernard Parker, Kearyn Baccus, Samir Nurkovic, Dumisani Zuma, Lazarous Kambole, Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya, Daniel Akpeyi, Leonardo Castro, Anthony Akumu and Lebogang Manyama.

Amakhosi also got rid of a few players at the end of the 2021/22 campaign. Philani Zulu, Willard Katsande, Kgotso Moleko, Brylon Petersen, Given Thibedi, Sizwe Twala and Yagan Sasman were all let go.
