The writing is seemingly on the wall for Tau at Al Ahly according to Elwatan news media in Egypt; should he leave the club on their own terms or run the risk of being frozen out for the 2024/25 season? The latter is a strong possibility at this point given that the player is adamant on receiving his dues for the remainder of his one-year contract at the club.
Al Ahly seemingly have a different problem on their hands altogether.
With the club closing in on three players - all foreigners - the club find themselves in excess of the allowed foreign quota by the league.
The club has been putting in work to free up their foreign quota with Aliou Dieng certain to leave the club, while Ali Malooul will not be registered for the season owing to his injury.
In this case, Tau is the only player standing between Al Ahly and their new targets as the club is believed to be negotiating a reasonable settlement for Tau, who is seemingly not budging on his demands, as per the Elwatan report.
The South African star has been linked with Rulani Mokwena's Wydad Casablanca in Morocco.
