Sweden-based midfielder Luke Le Roux reveals why he prefers to fight it out in Europe as opposed to making an early return to South Africa.
Le Roux, who recently put pen to paper on a deal with Swedish top flight outfit Varnamo, entered his fifth season abroad, having made the switch to Europe from SuperSport United in 2019.
For the most part, the lanky midfielder has seen an upward trajectory in his career, as he managed to adapt to the demands of European football, both in Sweden and in the Netherlands.
It is for this reason that Le Roux is keen to fight it out in Europe as opposed to making a return to the Betway Premiership, which has been the trend for a number of youngsters in recent times.
"I think people have different opinions and people are posting or saying this and that, they don't think this player should come back - but from my perspective we don't really know the real reasons, you know? Players have been coming home, in South Africa there are big clubs. So, the players are joining big clubs in South Africa. Maybe it was a dream or goal of them to play for these kind of clubs, we don't know," he told the Siya crew in an exclusive interview.

"And if it's young players my age, they still have a chance to go back to Europe, so we don't know what the players choice are or what the decision behind that is. But we have to respect it. People can say what they want, but at the end of the day, it's the player's decision.
"As a youngster growing up, the goal was always to play in Europe, and for me, I would like to stay in Europe for as long as possible. We don't know if that is three years, five years or even 10 years. We don't know because with football you never know, anything can happen - but definitely I'm trying my best and I'm pushing in each and every day this side," he continued.
Le Roux has made eight appearances for Varnamo so far in this campaign.
