Just last week Egyptian media had reported that Tau made a request to Al Ahly to pay him approximately R18 million, which was the sum due to him for the duration of his contract, which is set to run until 2025.
This request reportedly came after the relationship between Tau and his coach Marcel Kohler had gone sour, seemingly beyond repair.
Naturally it has led to speculation that Tau could be set for a sensational reunion with Rulani Mokwena at Wydad Casablanca, with one of the club's board members confirming they would be keen on the 30-year-old.
But in what has come as another twist, Tau and Kohler have reportedly resolved their issues.
Multiple reports in Egypt have suggested that the Swiss coach would be happy with Tau seeing out the remainder of the contract and is not opposed to working with Tau.
The reports have stated that a phone call between the two parties led to an amicable solution between Tau and Kohler, which could well see the player remain at Al Ahly after all.
With one year left to run on his deal, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Tau and where he will be playing his football in the 2024/25 season.
