With the future of the PSL leadership in sharp focus, what remains the biggest challenge has been argued.
Even though PSL chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza was re-elected unopposed in the recent congress, changes are beginning to take place after three new members were elected into the new executive committee, namely, Tim Sukazi (TS Galaxy), Jonny Mogaladi (Polokwane City) and Jomo Biyela (Richards Bay), who all replaced John Comitis (Cape Town City), Rob Benadie (Stellenbosch) and David Thidiela (Black Leopards).
Making up the new seven-member committee running the PSL, includes Dr. Kaizer Motaung (Chiefs), Mato Madlala (Golden Arrows), Dr Rejoice Simelane (Mamelodi Sundowns) and Stan Matthews (SuperSport United).

Khoza, 76, who has been the chairman of the PSL since 2003, could be in his last term in office and amid the debate on whether the League is ready for a different leader, sports lawyer Evert De Bruyn, has suggested that the biggest challenge facing the League would still be the procurement or sustainability of sponsors.
DStv, a division of MultiChoice, decided not to renew their sponsorship of the League ahead of the new season and Khoza managed to secure Betway, in a three-year, R900 million deal that saved the football industry in the country.
"What would have seen a significant increase in my work load would've been a scenario whereby the PSL would not have procured a new sponsor, in the form of Betway. That's largely due to the confidence certain people have in the leadership that remains," De Bruyn, who is familiar with legal cases in the PSL said on Smash Sports YouTube Channel.

"Whether you're critical on the status quo, you need to understand that the entire eco-system of professional football in SA has remained as a result of the work done by those people and largely Dr. Khoza.
"That being said, it's partnership [with Betway] that is going to be interesting. A lot of people have raised concerns about it being a betting company and to what end do we involve betting companies. In professional sport, it presents a challenge. Because I can tell you first hand, there are significant amount of players and people involved in football, who are betting, it's a problem. That needs to be dealt with," De Bruyn said.
Betting companies are beginning to flock into the football industry, after former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune recently announced his partnership, as a shareholder and ambassador of Top Bet.
