Kaizer Chiefs are moving swiftly to secure the future of their captain, the Siya crew has been informed.
Soccer Laduma was the first to report how Amakhosi were keen to renew the contract of their midfielder Yusuf Maart. However with time ticking, the Siya crew recently reported how there was also the danger of losing their skipper for free, particularly with the reported interest from Sekhukhune United.

Now, insiders close to the club and Maart indicated that both the technical team and management are believed to have agreed to extend the midfielder's stay. The potential new deal can ensure Maart can remain at Chiefs until June 2027.
"What I can tell you is that the deal is as good as done. He will remain at the club until June 2027. They had to move fast because there were clubs interested in him but now they are safe and they have him for another two years," the source told Soccer Laduma.
A second insider suggested that Sekhukhune's interest may have accelerated Chiefs' decision-making process.
"Yes, I can say that the interest from Sekhukhune United also helped to push Chiefs to make the decision to extend his contract for another two years and not lose him for free. Above all they wanted to have almost all their defensive (midfield) players in that position for next season as the club is looking at strengthening other departments," the second insider revealed.

Maart, 29, joined the Glamour Boys from Sekhukhune United in 2022. This season, he has been a consistent presence in midfield, playing in most matches. Chiefs currently have several players competing for positions in midfield, including Thabo Cele, Edson Castillo, Samkelo Zwane, Njabulo Blom, and Sibongiseni "Ox" Mthethwa.
Despite attempts, Soccer Laduma received no response from Chiefs when approached for comment at the time of publishing this story.
