The story
Mduduzi Shabalala has taken a major step in his career and personal branding by launching his foundation.
Although it does seem a bit early in his career for "Mdu or Die" to be exploring such a venture, the youngster is clear on his vision to not only aid communities but also unearth some football talent.
In March, the 20-year-old laid down the groundwork for this venture after a meeting with China Manini (Head of Department) of the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts & Culture in Johannesburg.
Hosted at the Dlamini Sports Complex in the City of Gold, Shabalala was supported by teammates, Bruce Bvuma and Mfundo Vilakazi, as well as Amakhosi supporters.
The Kaizer Chiefs TV crew was also present, with representatives from the Gauteng Department of Education and the Department of Sport, Arts & Culture also present.
Kits were presented to the schools that will participate in the foundation's tournament, with a draw also taking place.
"The Mduduzi Shabalala foundation is a labour of love, driven by a passion to make a difference. We're honored to have shared this moment with our community, and we're excited to see the impact we'll make together," wrote the foundation’s Instagram caption to a recap video of the launch event.
