Pitso Mosimane is set to return to Morocco — and the reason for that has now been revealed.
The highly respected South African tactician, who has been without a club since his dramatic and unceremonious fallout with Iranian side Esteghlal earlier this year, will be attending a high-profile football summit in Morocco alongside some of the continent’s biggest football personalities.
The summit is expected to feature the likes of Moroccan national team coach Walid Regragui, Nigerian CAF official Samson Adamu, Mamelodi Sundowns chairman Tlhopi Motsepe, and Malian legend Frederic Kanoute.
Mosimane’s appearance will mark his first public engagement in Morocco since his controversial spell in Iran ended, and it comes at a time when his name continues to swirl in connection with one of the most sought-after jobs in South African football.
With Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro reportedly set to vacate his post at the end of the season, Mosimane has been strongly linked with a return to the Betway Premiership — this time with the Buccaneers.

His proven pedigree, deep understanding of the local game, and track record of success both domestically and on the continent make him a prime candidate should Pirates make a change in the dugout.
Since leaving Esteghlal, Mosimane has kept a relatively low profile, focusing his energy on the development of the Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools, a project close to his heart aimed at nurturing the next generation of South African talent.
Though his return to Morocco is currently for business and networking, many will wonder if it could also serve as a bridge for further continental involvement — either through his own coaching ambitions or through potential collaborations tied to his developmental work.
As part of the summit, Al Ahly’s Amir Tawfik will also speak about the Egyptian club’s rise as a continental and global force — a journey Mosimane himself contributed to significantly during his trophy-laden spell at the Cairo giants.
While nothing is confirmed yet about his next move, Pitso Mosimane’s return to the spotlight in Morocco has certainly reignited speculation. Whether it's back in the PSL, on the continent, or somewhere entirely new — the football world is watching closely.
