The story
Orlando Pirates proudly represented South African football after securing a 0-0 draw at home against Algeria's Mouloudia Alger on Wednesday, advancing to the CAF Champions League semi-finals.
The Buccaneers secured a 1-0 victory in the first leg of their quarterfinal in Algiers last week, thanks to a goal from Mohau Nkota, and advanced to the final four with a 1-0 aggregate win.
A momentous occasion for the Sea Robbers was marred with ugly post-match scenes from both clubs.
The conflict erupted between the two technical teams and players shortly after full-time. At some point, even spectators stormed the pitch in an attempt to intervene.
As seen in the videos circulating online, police intervention was needed to calm the chaos.
Fans took to the Twitter/X timeline to share footage they captured from the stands, with the Premier of Gauteng, Panyaza Lesufi, also sharing a clip of the various fights that broke out.

The Soweto giants will next face Egyptian side Pyramids, joining Mamelodi Sundowns as one of two PSL teams in the semis, with the Brazilians set to face old foes and defending champions, Al Ahly.
