The story
Sixteen-year-old baller Emile Witbooi has been outstanding for South Africa at the U17 AFCON, already scoring a goal, providing an assist, and earning a Man of the Match award during the group stages.
Witbooi was the heartbeat of South Africa's attack in their thrilling tournament opener against Egypt, where he played a crucial role in securing a 4-3 victory for Vela Khumalo's team.
As South Africa prepares to face the challenging task of taking on hosts Morocco on Thursday evening at the El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia, all eyes will be on the fleet-footed attacker.
The teenage sensation hopes to lead his team to victory, aiming for a repeat of what the senior national team, Bafana Bafana, achieved in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16, when they shocked the favorites Morocco with a 2-0 win at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pédro, Ivory Coast.
As part of the build-up to the mouthwatering fixture between Amajimbos and the Lion Cubs, CAF's Twitter/X page shared a compilation video of Witbooi's best moments at the tournament so far, giving Moroccan fans a taste of what their young hopefuls will come up against.
