The story
Although fans can celebrate all three South African clubs, Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates (Champions League) and Stellenbosch (Confed Cup) progressing to the semi-finals in both CAF competitions, the fan violence involving visiting supporters has marred the quarter-finals hosted on Mzansi's shores.
From last week's first-leg clashes between Sundowns vs Esperance de Tunis in Pretoria and Stellies vs Zamalek, to Wednesday night's chaos between Pirates and MC Alger, we've seen emotions spilling over to violence far too often.
The latest bit of drama from the Orlando Stadium seems to have reminded fans of one of Pitso Mosimane's most famous post-match interviews.
While Mosimane was still at Sundowns, he had strong words to share following his side's intense CAF Champions League group stage clash in January 2019, against Wydad Casablanca at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
The 2016 CAF Champions League winning coach lashed out at the Moroccan club, referring to them as "bullies" and accusing them of attempting to influence and intimidate the match officials during an emotionally charged encounter, which ended in a 2-1 victory for Sundowns, thanks to a brace from Themba Zwane.
The video of Mosimane's post-match rant has resurfaced on social media, with fans using it as a reference as to why they feel the recent behaviour of the North African teams and fans has been unacceptable.
