On Monday, the 24-year-old sent a letter to PSG's chiefs confirming his decision to opt against renewing his contract at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
His current deal at the Parc des Princes runs until June 2024, but the forward retains an option to extend for a further year, one which he will not exercise, which is something he has insisted he told the club last year already.
The news has reignited links with Real Madrid, the team he was heavily linked with joining before he signed his latest PSG extension in May 2022.
French publication Le Parisien posted an article in which it was suggested that the Bondy native is interested in making the move to the Santiago Bernabeu in this window, and would even be willing to force a move in order to make it happen, but the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has since taken to Twitter to clarify the news.
Mbappe quoted the article in question and said: "LIES… ? At the same time, the bigger it is, the more it passes. I have already said that I will continue next season at PSG where I am very happy."
