It has been reportedly revealed how much money Spanish giants Barcelona still owe Lionel Messi, who joined Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent in August last year.
Details Of PSG's Contract Offer To Messi Revealed?
Although he left the Catalan giants ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, the Argentine is said to still be owed a large sum of money in unpaid wages by his former club.
This has come to light amid rumours suggesting Messi could make a stunning return to Barcelona at the end of this season, when his contract in Paris expires.
According to Spanish football journalist Sique Rodriguez, the 35-year-old is owed a staggering €50 million (R879 million) by the Blaugrana after taking a big pay cut during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Whether or not it hampers his potential return to Barcelona is unknown, as are the Argentine's feelings about heading back to the club he represented at senior level for 16 years prior to his shock departure.
Messi, it is reported, will only entertain talks over his future following the end of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, with PSG said to be determined to extend his stay in the French capital.
The forward struggled in his debut season in France, scoring just six league goals, but has started the new campaign in better form, having already contributed to 11 strikes in eight Ligue 1 outings.
In Spain, meanwhile, publications continue to link Barcelona's all-time record goalscorer with a return, despite the nature in which he left in August 2021.
