Ronaldo Among 22 Players 'Facing Ban' Amid Juve Scandal

Former Juventus No. 7 Cristiano Ronaldo could reportedly be facing a ban, alongside another 22 players, following an investigation into the Italian club's alleged accounting fraud which resulted in a 15-point penalty in Serie A last week.

According to the Daily Mirror, the 37-year-old is among a list of high-profile players who could be in trouble as part of an investigation into Juve's book handling that saw the club get punished recently.

The Bianconeri were docked 15 points by prosecutors last week Friday, which saw the Italian giants drop from third to 10th in Serie A.

It is claimed Ronaldo and 22 other players were paid €90 million (R1.6 billion) in deferred wages off the books, with Giorgio Chiellini, Paulo Dybala, Miralem Pjanic and Aaron Ramsey among those mentioned.

The Italian football federation's probe into Juventus' bookkeeping initially began in 2021 and looked at 62 player transactions across Italy between 2018 and 2020 amid accusations that certain price tags were inflated to escape Financial Fair Play Rules.

As the investigation took shape, the Old Lady were punished by prosecutors for accounting breaches but have launched an appeal with the Italian Olympic Committee.

Players believed to have been knowingly complicit in the fraud could be handed 30-day suspensions, the report claims, that would only apply to Italian football.

Ronaldo Was 'Obsessed' With Messi's Salary

In November last year, many of the club's top brass resigned, including then-president Andrea Agnelli and Pavel Nedved, whose reputation has taken a painful knock following his time as the club's vice-president.
