This past off-season, the Mancunians shelled out €75 million (R1.5 billion) for the services of Danish youngster Rasmus Hojlund.
While this is one of the biggest outlays in the club's history, the Red Devils are believed to already be looking to reinforce their attack once again.
The ongoing police investigation into winger Antony, the reluctance to reintegrate Mason Greenwood, the poor form of Marcus Rashford and Erik ten Hag's continued standoff with Jadon Sancho have all compromised United's strength in depth up front this season.
According to Football Insider, it is for this reason that the record Premier League champions are keen to sign signing Lois Openda.
Last season, he had a prolific campaign with Ligue 1's RC Lens as he bagged 21 goals in the league.
This form ultimately earned him a move to German giants RB Leipzig, and while the Bundesliga side may not have endured the best of starts to the new campaign, the 11-cap Belgium international has so far enjoyed an impressive debut season at the Red Bull Arena.
The Liege native has already scored five goals in 11 matches for his new side, and United are now believed to be keen to make a move for the forward as soon as January.

The same report, however, suggests that Leipzig deem it imperative that they qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League, and do not want to compromise this pursuit by selling one of their best players so early after signing him.
United, and whoever else may be interested, are thus likely going to have to wait until the end of the season to snap Openda up.
