Man Utd are set to face the French giants in the UEFA Europa League quarter-final first leg and the headlines surrounding the game involved Utd shot-stopper Andre Onana and Lyon midfielder Nemanja Matic.
Matic labelled Onana as 'one of the worst goalkeepers in Man United's history' in response to the former Inter Milan keeper's comments that Man United were a much better team than Lyon, The Guardian reported.
Onana hit back at the former Chelsea midfielder via X and said he respected Lyon and acknowledged it would be a tough match, before taunting Matic for failing to win a trophy during his five years with the Red Devils.
"At least I’ve lifted trophies with the greatest club in the world. Some can’t say the same," the Cameroonian said.
Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim revealed Onana would start Thursday's clash against Lyon and said the clash between the two players would not matter, according to Manchester Evening News.
"Tomorrow Onana is going to play and Altay is returning now so we have two, three top goalkeepers that are ready to play," Amorim said.
"Tomorrow (the exchange between Matic and Onana) will not matter," the Portuguese added.
The former Sporting Lisbon boss added that he knew Matic (from their time together at Benfica) and that the Serbian was a good guy.
