Last week, Getafe manager Jose Bordalas seemed to suggest that Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham was largely influential in Greenwood's decision to move to LALIGA.
In an interview with Radio Marca, the Spanish tactician said the 21-year-old striker is "friends" with the Los Blancos player, but he has since backtracked on those comments.
Speaking after the one-time England international made his debut for the club in their 3-2 win on Sunday, Bordalas suggested he had received inaccurate information.
"I had said that Mason Greenwood came to Getafe because he had spoken with Jude Bellingham," he said, according to talkSPORT.
"They have clarified to me that it was not the case."
Greenwood returned to action on Sunday for the first time since his arrest in January 2022, with the striker on loan at Getafe until the end of the campaign.
