Pogba's FIFA World Cup Fate Revealed?

Pogba's FIFA World Cup Fate Revealed?

With Paul Pogba set for a two-month spell on the sidelines through injury, it appears France manager Didier Deschamps has already decided on whether or not the midfielder will be included in his 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Paul Pogba To Miss FIFA World Cup?

The 29-year-old is likely to miss the next two months of club football after picking up a serious knee injury in pre-season and deciding with Juventus' medical team to undergo an operation.

This has left his chances of competing at the World Cup in Qatar uncertain, with his return to fitness reportedly scheduled for 10 November, little more than a week before the tournament gets underway.

According to French publication L'Equipe, however, the former Manchester United star has little to worry about regarding his place in the team as Deschamps is tipped to include Pogba in his 26-man squad.

Sides participating in the competition will have the option to name a team of 26, as announced in a statement by FIFA in June, with managers previously only being able to select 23 players.

Pogba, therefore, is reportedly set to be called up by the 2018 World Cup-winning coach, despite the Juventus No. 10's anticipated lack of match-readiness, due to his "special status" in the team.

The midfielder was among Les Bleus' key personalities at the spectacle four years ago in Russia, scoring in their 4-2 win over Croatia in the final, and is one of the most experienced players at Deschamps' disposal.

Pogba has made 91 appearances for the French senior side since his debut in 2013, contributing to 20 goals along the way.
