According to Sport, Barca have blocked Dembele's proposed move to the French champions and have asked for him to return to Catalonia immediately.
Last week, it was reported that the attacker was on the verge of completing a €50 million (R1 billion) switch to Paris from the LALIGA giants, but according to the abovementioned Spanish publication, Barca have not sent all the required documents to Les Parisiens to complete the transfer.
When the 26-year-old signed an extension with the Blaugrana last year, it was reportedly agreed that should a club trigger his €50 million release clause, the transfer fee would be split in half between the player and the club.
However, still marred by financial instability, the Spanish champions are hoping to recoup more than €25 million (R511 million) for Dembele's services.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is believed to only want a move to the Parc des Princes, but as things stand, he will miss the opening weekend of Ligue 1 football, with the 2023/24 campaign kicking off this Friday.
The same report claims that if the forward wants a quick exit from Catalonia, he and his agent, Moussa Sissoko, will need to reduce their fiscal demands.
While the Dembele saga rages on, it has also been reported that PSG are keen to lure another Barca star to the French capital in Ansu Fati.
The Spain international is rumoured to be eager to stay at his boyhood club, but it appears the Spanish giants are open to selling the young star.
