According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Pep Guardiola is said to be interested in signing 93-time Croatia international Mateo Kovacic.
The Blues are said to be prepared to part ways with the 29-year-old, who joined them from Real Madrid in 2018 on loan in a deal that later became permanent.
Kovacic is well established as one of the most decorated midfielders of the past decade, having claimed 13 trophies since his departure from Dinamo Zagreb in 2013.
The Croat won three UEFA Champions League titles during his time at Los Blancos, before winning a fourth with Chelsea in 2021.
The 2022/23 season was one of Kovacic's more underwhelming campaigns in recent years, though, form that coincides with his current club's worst Premier League finish since 1993/94.
City, meanwhile, could see the midfielder as a replacement for Ilkay Gundogan, who is yet to commit to a new deal at the league champions.
