During the 2023/24 campaign, the Glamour Boys struggled for goals, and it was alleged that they were exploring the possibility of signing Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) international Walter Bwalya.
The 29-year-old began his professional career in his native DRC with Corboux FC. Following stints with FC Lubumbashi, Forest Rangers and Nkana FC in Zambia, the hitman would find himself making the switch to El Gouna in the Egyptian Premier League.
It was here where he began to garner the attention of major African sides as he scored 13 league goals in 30 matches in the Egyptian top flight during the 2019/20 season.
He scored three goals in his opening five matches in the league the following campaign, before record African champions Al Ahly decided to sign him just before the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup.
He was never able to replicate the form he showed at El Gouna at the home of Red Devils, however, scoring only five goals in all competitions for the Club of the Century.
His erratic form in the Egyptian capital led to him being linked with a move to Naturena, but he saw out the remainder of his Ahly contract being loaned out to teams in Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
