McCarthy was appointed as Kenya coach in March and was tasked with overseeing Kenya's 2026 World Cup Qualification campaign.
The former Manchester United assistant coach is still in search of his first win in charge of the Harambee Stars following a 3-3 draw with Gambia and a 2-1 loss to group leaders Gabon.
However, Manchester United legend Andy Cole offered words of support to the former Blackburn Rovers striker and said Kenyan football would grow under Benni's tutelage.
"I think Benni will do a good job," Pulse Sports reported Cole saying.
"I’ve known him for years. He came to England, did very well as a player, and even worked as a coach at Manchester United a couple of seasons ago," he added.
Cole said he shares a strong relationship with McCarthy and said the former AmaZulu coach would do well while in charge of Kenya.

"He’s played European football, he’s won the European Cup, and I’d like to believe that, as a coach, he knows what he’s talking about. So yes, I think he’ll do very well.”
Cole added that African football is on the rise and urged Kenyan footballers to work hard to push for a move to Europe.
“Unfortunately, there haven’t been too many Kenyan players breaking through in European football, but all they can do is keep working hard and striving — just like the rest of the players who represent them," the Premier League winner said.
