The North African giants and the perennial South African champions will renew their rivalry once again on Tuesday evening when they face off in Radès.
In last season’s iteration of the competition, the two sides met in the semi-finals, with the Blood and Gold ultimately emerging triumphant. However, heading into the second leg of this campaign’s last-eight clash, it is Masandawana who are in the ascendancy.
Ka Bo Yellow go away to the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi with a 1-0 lead, courtesy of a Peter Shalulile strike. The Betway Premiership table-toppers have, however, never won a match in their six visits to Tunisia, and Espérance head coach Maher Kanzari will be hoping that this record continues, as he claims his side will be much more attacking.
"The team's players are determined to give their best to achieve a positive result that will qualify them for the next round,” Kanzari told members of the media in his pre-match press conference, as per WinWin.
"Despite the difficulty of the match and the importance of the stakes, the encounter will be held in front of our fans, who represent an important psychological advantage.
