The now-former president of the Guinea Football Federation (FGF), Aboubacar Sampil, has officially been dismissed from his position.
A statement from the FGF read:
"As spokesperson for the Executive Committee of the Guinean Football Federation (FGF), I have the duty to inform that at the end of the ordinary meeting of the Executive Committee held this Tuesday, April 8, 2025, it was decided, by a majority, to proceed with the provisional dismissal of Mr. Aboubacar Sampil, President of the Guinean Football Federation. This dismissal follows a unanimous vote of seven out of seven voters.”
Sampil led the administration which oversaw their under-17 national team being disqualified from the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Zone A of the Union of West African Football Federations, due to age cheating after players failed MRI tests.
According to Bsnsports, That has been compounded by shocking allegations that he has also been embezzling funds, abusing his power, and committing serious administrative violations.
Sampil revealed a staggering debt of 12 billion Guinean francs (R26 million) that the federation must address earlier in April.
The statement went on to say:
“The facts that led to this decision concern serious dysfunctions, including: a lack of transparency, deficient internal and external communication, weakened governance, and financial practices incompatible with the requirements of good management.
