This comes after Arsenal's stunning 3-0 victory over defending champions Real Madrid in the first leg of their quarter-final clash at the Emirates on Tuesday night.
According to ESPN, two European leagues will be awarded an additional spot in next season's campaign according to the European Performance Spot (EPS) and the Premier League secured the first of those.
English clubs have performed admirably in European competitions this season as Arsenal and Aston Villa are in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United qualified for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals, while Chelsea qualified for the UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-finals.
With seven games left to play, Chelsea currently occupy 4th with 53 points, level with Newcastle, who have a game in hand. Manchester City are 6th with 52 points and Aston Villa sit 7th with 51 points. Fulham are not far behind in 8th on 48 points.
While the Premier League is guaranteed five teams as a minimum, that number could be higher if results go in favour of the remaining teams.
