Since the beginning of the season, there have been reports circulating that the Bafana Bafana star is poised to leave the Club of the Century by the end of the campaign.
It has been alleged that head coach Marcel Koller is keen on parting ways with the 46-capped international in an effort to bring in new foreign players to the record African champions as they begin recruitment for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Tau and Moroccan winger Reda Slim are the two players who have been constantly linked with a move away from the Cairo International Stadium in recent weeks, but ex-club star Mohamed Emara believes it is imperative for the former to stay.
Emara played for the Red Devils between 1996 and 1999, before returning for a second stint between 2002 and 2004, following a brief tenure in the Bundesliga with Hansa Rostock. The 1998 Africa Cup of Nations winner believes Tau is one of the club's most influential players and should be retained.
"I reject Percy Tau's departure from Al-Ahly, and I hope the South African player will continue in the Red Castle for the next year, because he is a very influential player," the 50-year-old told On Sport FM.

"Percy Tau is one of the best players in Al-Ahly, along with Hussein El-Shahat and Mohamed Magdy Afsha, and we must keep him and not let go of his services."
