There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Marcel Koller at Al Ahly in recent weeks. It is alleged that the club's board of directors has grown discontent with the team's performances and may be looking at potential replacements for the Swiss tactician in the near future.
One of the names touted as a possible new manager for the Club of the Century is Carlos Queiroz. The veteran tactician is well-versed in African football, having taken charge of the South African and Egyptian national teams during his four decades in coaching.
The Mozambican-born coach, however, has not managed a club in over two decades, with his last club role being at Real Madrid in 2004. He is now synonymous with leading national teams and, during his last three stints with Egypt, Iran, and Qatar, he was accompanied by De Sa.
With Queiroz being linked to the Al Ahly job, the South African was recently asked whether the Portuguese coach would be open to taking on the challenge. The Cape Town resident told El Balad: "I am not sure of his desire to work daily in football, especially with clubs."

When asked if he would join Queiroz on a possible new challenge in Cairo, he added: "If there is a good project, he will agree to win and do it, but he will need a good technical team with him," he added.
"Why not? If he asked me, I would agree. I love Egyptians and Egyptian football."
