Throughout the January transfer window, Tanzania midfielder Feisal Salum was linked with a move to Naturena. The 26-year-old Azam FC midfielder previously worked with Nasreddine Nabi at Young Africans, and it seemed as though the Tunisian tactician was keen to reunite with the attacker.
Ultimately, however, the Glamour Boys were unable to secure his services, and he will now finish the 2024/25 campaign in Tanzania, where he is currently causing problems for a South African tactician.
On Tuesday, Azam met Simba SC in a league clash, and the two sides played out a 2-2 draw at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. Salum assisted an 89th-minute equaliser, as the Reds of Msimbazi fell five points behind league leaders Yanga.
After the match, Davids lamented how a player of the Zanzibar native's calibre could be left alone at such a crucial point in the game.
"I was very disappointed after a good performance. Conceding the first goal in the opening minutes was frustrating, and then the mistake right at the end cost us three points. These crucial errors—one at the beginning and one at the end—affected the outcome," the Cape Town native said, as per The Guardian Tanzania.
"We were in control, but if you give Fei Toto (Salum) space, allow a run in behind, and fail to position yourself well, you get punished. It was a fantastic ball behind us, and a goal—that's really disappointing," he explained.
"We have to take it on the chin, learn from it, and focus on the next match."
Despite the setback, Davids remained optimistic about the team's prospects of winning the league.

"One point ahead, one point behind—it doesn't make a big difference. What matters is winning every match. If we do that, we are champions. The next match is always the most important, and we must fight for three points before even thinking about the derby," he added.
