The story
Cape Town City have added veteran midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo to their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season, making him their ninth signing of a busy transfer window for Eric Tinkler's side.
The vastly experienced 33-year-old arrived as a free agent after leaving Sekhukhune United at the end of the last campaign, where he made 50 appearances in his 18 month spell at Babina Noko.
Capped 20 times by Bafana Bafana, Mokotjo brings plenty of experience to Tinkler's outfit, having enjoyed successful from spells at Feyenoord, PEC Zwolle, and FC Twente in the Netherlands, and Brentford in England.
Mokotjo broke his silence about his move to the Citizens, mentioning that he manifested this move years ago when he returned to South African shores:
"I think me signing for City is something that, you know, I'm looking forward to so I'm really happy. I'm very honoured to be here. Like I said, I manifested it years ago when I came back to the country from Europe," said Mokotjo, who added why he wanted to join City in the first place:
"The playing style of Cape Town City impresses me a lot. So yeah, all I care about is winning and making sure I get the best out of myself so people can enjoy my football."
Having spent a bulk of his career in Europe, Mokotjo pointed out that there's a lot of similarities in how City and European clubs run their operations.
"Yeah, [there are] a lot of similarities actually, between European teams and Cape Town City. They play very structured football," said Mokotjo.
