Dlamini Makes Bold Claim On Mabasa

Dlamini Makes Bold Claim On Mabasa

Orlando Pirates midfielder Kabelo Dlamini has hailed the impact of Tshegofatso Mabasa in the second half of the season for the Buccaneers, saying he's always believed that the striker is one of the best in the country.

Mabasa returned from a loan spell in January from Moroka Swallows and, once he found his rhythm, he rattled the back of the net regularly.

Things might not have gone so well for Mabasa in his early days at Pirates, having been loaned out to Sekhukhune United and then Swallows, but Dlamini has always believed that the former Bloemfontein Celtic striker is one of the best in the country.

Nine of Mabasa's 15 DStv Premiership this season have been netted in the colours of the Buccaneers, making an incredible impact over the last few months for the Soweto giants.

"I've always believed Mabasa is a top striker. He is one of the top strikers in South Africa. Unfortunately, things did not go well at first, but I am happy that he is back and doing well and that he is helping the team, especially in the second round of the season. But I know that he is a top striker," Dlamini said to the Siya crew.

Going into the final weekend of the season this week, Mabasa will have an important role to play for the Buccaneers as they look to finish in second place to qualify for the CAF Champions League next season. As things stand, the Buccaneers are in third place and have let themselves down by dropping points in their last two matches, with defeats to TS Galaxy and Richards Bay.

There will be no room for error in the final match of the season against SuperSport United on Saturday, as they need maximum points while second-placed Stellenbosch need to drop points.

A draw for Pirates, and a defeat to Stellenbosch, would also be enough for the Buccaneers to finish second as they have a better goal difference.
