The expectation around the world is that once the season concludes, Los Blancos will complete the signing of the France captain on a free transfer.
The 25-year-old is said to have informed Paris Saint-Germain that he will not be extending his contract in the French capital, opening up the door to the highly anticipated transfer.
With no fee involved, the Bondy native is expected to sign a massive signing bonus coupled with handsome wages, but Barca president Joan Laporta thinks that the numbers involved in bringing the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner to Spain could unbalance the harmony which currently exists in the club's dressing room.
Following his denial of being envious at Los Merengues of their likely acquisition of Mbappe, the Spanish executive was asked if he had any knowledge of the move being a done deal, to which he told Mundo Deportivo: "Not at all, not at all. Also, I don't know if they will or won't. We'll see."

He added: "There they have a problem. They have to sell a player, right? Because they are not both going to play in the same place. And speaking of the numbers there will be, this distorts the locker room for sure."
