Chiefs, have on Thursday confirmed the departure of defender Siyabonga Ngezana from the club!
The defender has penned a deal with Romanian giants Fotbal Club FCSB for an undisclosed fee, the club confirmed via their official social media channels.
"Kaizer Chiefs bid farewell to defender, Siyabonga Ngezana, who has signed for Romanian Lige 1 powerhouse, Fotbal Club FCSB, formerly known as Steaua Bucharesti," the club tweeted.
Ngezana, who came through the club's development ranks, was promoted to the first team in 2017 and in the space of six years has vastly improved his game to establish himself as one of the key members of the Chiefs squad.
Given how important he was to Chiefs' cause, his departure does come as a bit of a shock; however, Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr revealed the time was ideal for the two parties to part ways.
"There is always a tinge of sadness when a player who has risen through the ranks here leaves the Club. However, Siya has had a good and substantial career at Kaizer Chiefs and feels the time is right to take up a new challenge. We appreciate his wholehearted commitment to Amakhosi and wish him well on his exciting adventure to Europe," he told the club's website.
Ngezana, who made a total of 123 appearances in all competitions for the Glamour Boys over seven seasons, is likely to face a completely new challenge in the 2023/24 Europa Conference League given that his side finds themselves in the second qualifying round.
