The Athletic has reported that the Red Devils have decided against a formal approach for the England captain ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
Kane had long been considered a priority signing for United boss Erik ten Hag, but Spurs' apparent refusal to sell to a direct Premier League rival has meant discussions have not advanced.
Real Madrid are also linked with the 29-year-old following Karim Benzema's decision to join Saudi Arabian giants Al Ittihad.
Come the end of June, Kane will enter the final 12 months of his deal at the Lilywhites, with it still unknown whether he will extend his stay or choose to run his contract down.
The Three Lions skipper was in terrific goalscoring form this past season, finding the back of the net on 32 occasions across all competitions.

Spurs reportedly value Kane at £100 million (R2.3 billion), an asking price the 20-time English champions are said to have no intention of paying.
