Greenwood 'Reacts' To Being 'Wanted Back At Man Utd'

Mason Greenwood has reportedly reacted to the news that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is ready to welcome him back to the squad.

Amid reports that the Dutchman would be happy for him to return to the group, Greenwood is said to be delighted by the latest developments.

The Sun claims many of his teammates feel the same way as Ten Hag after the charges the one-time England international was facing were dropped earlier this year.

Greenwood has not played football since January 2022, the month in which he was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.

United's internal investigation seems to be approaching an end as the report states the 21-year-old is desperate for a final decision to be made soon.

"Mason was delighted to hear that the manager and most of his team-mates would welcome him back," a source told The Sun

"He firmly believes he is an innocent man and is very frustrated he's not been able to play. He understands that the club have had to carry out an investigation, but he feels like his career is slipping by.

"He and his team have made clear to United that they now want to know what is happening. They have basically said, 'sack him or back him.'"

A recent report said the Red Devils have considered loaning him out for the 2023/24 campaign, while he has also been linked with clubs in Italy and Turkey.

Greenwood was widely considered as a top prospect at the 20-time champions after his breakthrough in 2019, scoring 35 goals in 129 appearances, before his arrest.
