According to Sport, the first steps to have Messi return to the Blaugrana have begun with the 35-year-old forward having been given his first contract offer from the Spanish giants.
The LaLiga champions have reportedly offered the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner €25 million (R520 million) a season, which would make him the one of the highest-paid players at the club.
It is believed that the football icon will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the campaign, with the Argentine eager to return to Catalonia, but his homecoming is contingent on the right financial circumstances being in place in Catalonia.

The newly crowned LaLiga champions have made it publicly known they are pursuing their former captain after losing him in 2021, with club president Joan Laporta keen to rectify that situation.
