It was announced on Thursday evening that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, chairman and CEO of chemicals company INEOS, has submitted a new bid to buy the 20-time English giants.
A spokesperson said: "Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS can confirm we have submitted a revised bid," according to the Mirror.
It is believed that Ratcliffe and Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim are the two leading candidates to takeover from the American family, with the latter reportedly considered the favourite.
Both parties visited the club last week and held long discussions before being informed of their new deadline, which was initially scheduled to be Wednesday night.
United supporters have for years called for the Glazer family to sell the club after years of the team underperforming on the field following Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013.
Erik ten Hag's arrival has since breathed new life into the English giants, with the Dutchman having ended a six-year trophy drought earlier this year after winning this season's Carabao Cup, beating Newcastle United 2-0 in the final at Wembley Stadium.
Reports have suggested that the Glazers are hoping to receive a bid worth £6 billion (R133 billion) from potential suitors.
