Ronaldo Breaks Silence After Dramatic Man Utd Exit

Ronaldo Breaks Silence After Dramatic Man Utd Exit

Cristiano Ronaldo has finally broken his silence following his uncivil departure from Manchester United in November last year.

The veteran forward fell out of favour with Erik ten Hag at the Red Devils in the months leading up to his premature exit from the club, eventually airing his grievances in a bombshell interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan before agreeing to the mutual termination of his deal.

Ronaldo accused Ten Hag of disrespecting him and his then-teammates of lacking discipline and worth ethic, while he took aim at the Glazers for overseeing the club's fall from grace.

United responded by conducting an internal investigation that led to the cancelling of Ronaldo's contract, just days before the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was set to represent Portugal at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Now back with his national team and speaking to reporters ahead of their 2024 UEFA European Championship qualifiers over the next week, Ronaldo believes he has grown since his "bad career run".

"Sometimes, you have to go through some things to see who is on my side," he said in a press conference, according to the Mirror.

"I have no problem saying, I had a bad career run, but there's no time for regrets," Ronaldo continued. "Life goes on and, doing well or not, it was part of my growth.

"When we are at the top of the mountain, we often cannot see what is below. Now, I'm more prepared and learning that was important because I had never been through this, like in the last few months. Now I'm a better man."

Following the World Cup, Ronaldo penned a world-record deal with Saudi Arabian giants Al Nassr, for whom he has scored nine goals in his first 10 matches.
