Experienced France international Antoine Griezmann is reportedly upset after Didier Deschamps named Kylian Mbappe as the national team's new captain.

On Tuesday, the 54-year-old announced that the Paris Saint-Germain forward will be Les Bleus' new leader going forward following Hugo Lloris' retirement from international football.
Explaining his decision, Deschamps said Mbappe "ticks all the boxes to have this responsibility. On the pitch as well as within the squad, by being a key element".
Backlash has come the head coach's way since his announcement, however, with many believing 117-time France international Griezmann, who has been chosen as vice-captain, would have better suited to the role.
According to French outlet Le Figaro, the Atletico Madrid man is devastated after overlooked for the role and is considering his future with France after spending weeks "dreaming" of being chosen for the responsibility.

Griezmann's international career began back in 2014 at 22 years old, with the now 32-year-old having since represented France at three FIFA World Cups and two UEFA European Championships.
Since his debut, he has played a hand in 78 strikes across all competitions and is the country's third record goalscorer of all time (42) behind Thierry Henry (51) and Olivier Giroud (53).
France will go up against the Netherlands and Ireland on 24 and 27 March in qualifying matches for the Euros next year.
